The Original Koeksister Recipe

Koeksister is a super popular South African sticky doughnut.
Similar to donuts, Koeksisters have a braid shape that can be made in different sizes depending on your preference. It is a dough based on eggs, flour and butter with a neutral flavor which, once cooked, is sprinkled with a thick syrup made with cane sugar and cinnamon, thus giving the final product its characteristic amber color.
The koeksisters satisfy everyone's palate, especially those with a sweet tooth. Absolutely perfect for snack or tea time and even breakfast.

I am a qualified chef with many years experience. Having completing a three year cooking course here in Cape Town I became a freelance chef and do varying jobs from private cheffing, to cookbook preparation and proof reading, to recipe development and styling.
Through my contracts of private cheffing, I got to travel, experience new cuisines and cook with new and exciting ingredients. I also gained a lot of experience in cooking for allergies and specific dietary requirements- ie gluten free, dairy free, and sugar free.
